OpenAI has entered a strategic collaboration with Hon Hai Technology Group, better known as Foxconn, to design and manufacture next-generation AI infrastructure and hardware on American soil. The partnership grants OpenAI early access to Foxconn's innovations, with potential procurement opportunities for the AI systems under development.

The agreement focuses on joint development of AI servers and critical components—including power systems, cooling solutions, and networking hardware—at Foxconn's U.S. facilities across Ohio, Texas, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Virginia. Sam Altman emphasized the partnership's role in anchoring Core AI advancements within domestic borders, though financial terms remain undisclosed.

This alliance signals a concerted push to bolster U.S. leadership in artificial intelligence infrastructure. The absence of purchase commitments suggests an exploratory phase, with OpenAI positioned as first evaluator of Foxconn's prototype hardware before potential commercialization.
